Housewarming Party

Sam and I celebrated our new farm with friends. We had friends' bands play, ate lots of food, and had a bonfire.

Peas, Vetch, and Oats

Sam planted a test plot of PVO (peas, vetch, and oats) in the cold frame (in the greenhouse). The cold frame won't make a big difference in terms of the temperature but it will ensure that the chickens don't eat it up. We attempted to plant some PVO outside of the cold frame and you can see in the video that they loved the unexpected snack.

Lucky - Our Rooster

We adopted a rooster named Lucky from friends of ours. He is helping keep the chickens in line. Listen to Sam imitate his call.

Transformation of the Greenhouse

The chickens have been in the greenhouse for over two weeks now and what a change. Sam has created two new compost bins to contain all the old tomato plants and chicken manure and seaweed.

Chicken Tractor

Sam built a chicken tractor (with a trap door) so that our chickens could move into the greenhouse and eat all the yummy, green leftovers. They love it.

The field

Here is the field where we plan on growing lots of garlic.

The farmhouse

Originally built in 1810 with a kitchen and porch added on in 2007.

Greenhouses
